Rando Monday Stuff

Cooler temps, cycling fast to be the rain - Great success!
Rain gearThere were so few bike commuters today I kind-of thought it was a work holiday. No? I was just a crazy girl gambling with the rain.

Monday outfit. I thought it was cool enough to wear pants but I was pretty wrong.
Ugh, Monday It was mad muggy.

My hair/bangs now long enough to be warn backward.
Hair update
I'm fake-tanned. Don't even worry about my skin health. SPF all the time.

Clear safety shades from Vans - Fakie Glasses.
Safety clear glasses
Forever 21 bows & hearts necklaces.

This little piece of Times Square is still a section of my morning commute that I have to consciously remind myself to "Beee calm"
Stressful spot

Just some Monday rando-pics. This is going to be a pretty full week. Full of fun!

This Summer is Mine!!!

Monday
Monday cargo skinny pants. It's really pleasant and not sweaty-madness summertime in New York City.

IMGP6892
These both fit in my bike basket.
My bag situation is cute right now. L.A.M.B. butterfly print bag and J.Crew canvas tote.

Monday after running home and scarfing our routine Monday night sushi, Matt and I rode our bikes to Times Square to meet-up with a group from our college.
IMGP6890
It was so much fun to be around young Arkansas people! We mainly checked out Times Square. They were just stopped through from Egypt headed back to Arkie tomorrow morning.

Roxy strawberry cheesecake.

Saturday I went to Michael's Craft Store and this awesome crocheted bike rack and tree welcomed Kate Middleton with open, cozy arms!
As it should be outside of Michaels
Every Michael's should have this set-up out front. Kudos UWS Michael's!

Sunday I marched IN the Gay Pride Parade and I'm so glad I did!
The theme for my group, Planned Parenthood, was "Sports" because the parade Grand Marshall was Dan Savage, whose saying is "Good, Giving and Game" re: sexy times. I went to the sporting goods store Saturday morning and worked out these sporty badminton-themed outfits.

Front of the shirt says "Planned Parenthood - Serving up - Safe Sex - Sex Ed - Pride - NYC"
Back had big badminton birdies and said "NYC Pride '11" and "Celebrating equal rights (because gay marriage passed in New York late Friday if you've been under a rock) for all the little birdies" Because shuttlecocks are also called "Birdies"

I was elated to discover that Beauty Queen Kitty Hiccups was behind us in the parade line-up.

Yaaaay! For Kitty! She is an amazing singer and showgirl!

Friday night I did end up going back to Central Park for Part 2 of Florence and the Machine and it was awesome! Bonnie-dog got to go hang with the ladies way past her bedtime (matt was out of town)
Bonnie in a taxi
I love it when Bonnie gets to ride in a taxi! I feel special for her.

Hanging on for dear life as I scoop up all possible fun this summer!

Firsts and Bows and Bows and Bows

First morning commute. With my new Linus Dutchie whose name is not yet determined.
Old Spot - New Bike
A favorite photo spot in Central Park, as you may recognize.

First trip to the shop that received me and my mangled Schwinn on Friday. They approved of this bicycle and got me our first basket. This is the same Wald basket my Schwinn Cream had.
New basket
The only thing my guy at City Bicycle said about my new bike situation, was that it was dangerous for me to ride around with all that crap hanging on my handlebars.

Dangerous like this:

First outdoors in New York City lock-up spot! This is maybe 45th Street near Times Square. I wanted to pop-in to Forever 21. The massive one.
First lock-up

It's so hot now that I could not stand one more ride with all my bags on the handlebars.
Misery guiding it and Misery knees scraping the bags. Glad I went with this little basket again! She's cheap! And it works well with bungees. I put 2 bags plus my shopping bag in there for my ride home tonight.

First cute shopping shoes it carried home- the Basket & and the Bike:

More bows on the Linuses first ride (and my personal second) over the Williamsburg Bridge into Brooklyn.

I think I'm going to take me and my new bike on a date this weekend so we can bond.
Just me and the bike.

Magenta Lips Float Ships

Today's Ride Hi! It's still quite cool and it's totes windy, but I decided this most-favorite military coat could come back out because I'm layering. I've missed this coat. I've actually just been shyly saying "Hello" as it sat in the back corner of the closet.

Don't mind the hair
2 light-weight military style jackets - Forever 21 Tunic - Arkansas Thrifted Snake Skin Belt - Gap corduroy skinnies, Dolce Vita Pax Boots - Schwinn Bicycle

Some people have great hair days, I have great eyelash days.
Amazing eyelash day
MAC Pro Lash mascara in Coal Black. This tube is 2.5mos old. Yes, I date my mascara and you should too.

Here's a cute commuter in glasses and helmet riding opposite of me down Fashion Ave.
Glasses/Helmet lady on Fashion Ave.
PS - I love Health King. I buy a lot of fruit salads from them.

I ride down through Times Square in the mornings, and luckily I go a different way home. This is a ton of people and this is normal people just going to day-jobs before 9am.
My AM Commute

Goin' Home!
IMGP3962

Tonight I cooked up a super-healthy dinner then we went to the gym. I'm going to be so sore! The forecast is terrible the next 2 days, so I updated my iPod with fresh music and I bet I'll be riding public transportation. I might post sad, walking in the rain photos.

Tonight I also updated my little ole' website!
Simple and clean, but keepin' the peace.

Roxy Paper Bag Waist Skirt

I made my hair appointment last week, but it's still 3 weeks away.
The top is so thick! Don't want to cut it myself and upset the team.

Not much going on today. Read Nylon... LOve Drew Barrymore!

I ate this super healthy, mostly green (literally) lunch. I was in desperate need of a hunk of bread by 5pm.

There's OKRA on the bottom of my lunch box/container. Okra is scarce in New York!

Bike NYC Pics

I'm trying to do some shoe-detail pics for this bike style blogger. Here we go!

I saw these mirrors behind the flowers and flipped a u-turn real quick-like!
Glitter TOMS + Orchids + Schwinn cream

My husband has on a devastatingly dorky sock/shoe combo. I begged him to let me know how he goes out like that. Otherwise, his outfit is fine, but he dresses really nice and that nice stuff is in the bag. Sad. There's nothing better than seeing people in fancy business clothes on bicycles.
Matt destroying cycle chic

In New York City, we refer to Henderson State University as the "Harvard of the South."

I took this while I was sitting at a stop light. People are literally living in Kirstie Alley's big hair. This is so sad! I'm so happy I don't live in this sort of building. Trashy adverts are actually scarce on my block. Thank goodness! This was really disturbing.
People are living in Kirstie Alley's Hair

You see peeps all the time giving interviews... this was at 8:30am.... I didn't recognize the person on camera so it was a bust. It's still funny that this is what I go to work looking at.
Interview - Let Down

This is blurry because I was in motion, but I love this Broadway pedestrian Greenway & bicycle lane stuff. I just love it.
Magical B-Way Bike Lane

Here are my outfits from earlier in the week -
Monday there was a wild monsoon so I didn't ride, so I wore a short skirt. This is an Arkansas Thrift dress that I got chopped to be short. Fingertip length if you need specifics.
5/3/Outfit
This dress is awesome especially because I probably didn't give $2 for it. I paid MUCH MORE In getting it trimmed & hemmed.

This is obviously a bicycle-riding look:
5/4/10 Bike Outfit

My friend Emily said "You have GOT to be the only person I know who goes to Charlotte Russe to look for work clothes!" But it's true! This summer I'm buying cheap shit only! This dress was $24 and I had a 25% off coupon. Summer of saving money!

Riding in the Rain...

Despite a gloomy forecast for this Monday, I could not resist the fun of riding the bicycle to work. There was no rain on the way in, and I made such good time that I parked next to The Today Show for a second to confirm that no one special was on...

Parked at a traffic light in the new Greenway/Broadway expanded pedestrian area in Times Square at 8:30am.
Monday Morning Times Square

And I even cruised by GMA to see if they were in the same situation.
GMA - Monday Morning

I still got to work soo quickly on the bike! Even after fumbling around on the bike rack with that crazy lock.
Here's my BRIGHTLY coordinated helmet & backpack.
Cycle Chiiic!

This is my outfit - Monday dark rainy colors. I didn't ride in these heels. I rode in my Gold Glitter TOMS.
Gloomy Monday Outfit

My ride home was a little different. It was officially RAINING. It was kind of fun after I warmed up a little bit. I wish I had a towel because wet-hands was the least enjoyable part. I think my helmet's brim protected my eyes and face.

I took a different route on the way home - I was more conscious of following Official NYC Bike Lanes in the rainy conditions. Do not want to get smashed in the street in the rain.

I'm at 8th Ave slightly south of Columbus Circle. You can see the Globe statue.
Columbus Cir.

Central Park South facing East: Stopping to be self-impressed with my time, despite being extra-cautious and taking a round-about route.

I got pretty wet and my hands were wet, cold and very miserable the whole ride home BUT I still rode very slow & safe and 95% of the way in bike lanes and I still made better time than riding the subway + bus.

Photograms on 5th!

DSCN2532
My new work commute will involve new adventures in Times Square and 5th Avenue. Photos are going to ABOUND this spring and summer and probably for a long, long time.

Our building is next to the Conde Nast building, as in, the VOGUE factory. I hope there will be things to spy on. I hope I will see Good celebrities walking in or out of there.

Thursday I saw The Naked Cowboy for the first time. He was really, really fit. I opted not to be photographed with him, as he was literally right outside my new work-place. I feel like I may get to know him due to this proximity.

I interviewed at my new job 3 times and I've gone in twice for quick fittings. That's 5 outfits already with not much exposure. I had fun in my 2 fittings so I'm happy to start work.

Friday was super windy and COLD but I had to stop and photograph these Bergdorf Goodman windows for my college photography instructor - Ms B! Photograms! Photograms are the "wall-paper" in these windows.

You can see a little of Me in this one...
DSCN2530

My awesome friend Trish suggested I try this YSL Volume mascara. Volume Effect Faux Cils. It's good stuff. I'm not quite used to how long the wand is. My tube of MAC prolash is much shorter = Shorter wand. I was a little shocked that it's $30/tube. Wow! I think MAC Pro Lash is still my BFF at $13 and a helper in the Back to MAC process to get free stuff.

I was sitting on the couch and felt like I have a "Cute Mess" going on in the bedroom. My shit is covering the top of the dresser, but it's full of Matt's stuff 100% on the inside.
Cute Mess Room

I still need to photograph my new, cheap Charlotte Russe accessories. I didn't contribute at all to Wardrobe Remix this week. Blog traffic has plummeted as a result.
