When too clean is a bad sign

See how this bike rack is clean and perfect?
It's not banged up. It doesn't have a rusty bike skeleton chained to it.
It doesn't have a hint of spray paint or a faded sticker.

It's brand new and shiny.
fresh bike racks in argenta

While it's nice to see this, and the other plentiful perfect racks, I am reminded of this. Arkansas ranks the lowest of the states in bicycle commuters.

Sad! But hopefully, it will get better.

Sorry for the trash can, but take pleasure in the extremely clean small town feel.

I rode about one whole mile to see Harry Belafonte speak at the end of a screening for a documentary about his activist life. It was really wonderful. I had no idea what a major role he played in the civil rights movement.

This Summer is Mine!!!

Monday
Monday cargo skinny pants. It's really pleasant and not sweaty-madness summertime in New York City.

IMGP6892
These both fit in my bike basket.
My bag situation is cute right now. L.A.M.B. butterfly print bag and J.Crew canvas tote.

Monday after running home and scarfing our routine Monday night sushi, Matt and I rode our bikes to Times Square to meet-up with a group from our college.
IMGP6890
It was so much fun to be around young Arkansas people! We mainly checked out Times Square. They were just stopped through from Egypt headed back to Arkie tomorrow morning.

Roxy strawberry cheesecake.

Saturday I went to Michael's Craft Store and this awesome crocheted bike rack and tree welcomed Kate Middleton with open, cozy arms!
As it should be outside of Michaels
Every Michael's should have this set-up out front. Kudos UWS Michael's!

Sunday I marched IN the Gay Pride Parade and I'm so glad I did!
The theme for my group, Planned Parenthood, was "Sports" because the parade Grand Marshall was Dan Savage, whose saying is "Good, Giving and Game" re: sexy times. I went to the sporting goods store Saturday morning and worked out these sporty badminton-themed outfits.

Front of the shirt says "Planned Parenthood - Serving up - Safe Sex - Sex Ed - Pride - NYC"
Back had big badminton birdies and said "NYC Pride '11" and "Celebrating equal rights (because gay marriage passed in New York late Friday if you've been under a rock) for all the little birdies" Because shuttlecocks are also called "Birdies"

I was elated to discover that Beauty Queen Kitty Hiccups was behind us in the parade line-up.

Yaaaay! For Kitty! She is an amazing singer and showgirl!

Friday night I did end up going back to Central Park for Part 2 of Florence and the Machine and it was awesome! Bonnie-dog got to go hang with the ladies way past her bedtime (matt was out of town)
Bonnie in a taxi
I love it when Bonnie gets to ride in a taxi! I feel special for her.

Hanging on for dear life as I scoop up all possible fun this summer!

Christmas in June at the L.A.M.B. Sample Sale

I woke up very early- Black Friday style on Tuesday, to get myself down to the L.A.M.B. sample sale. It was euphoric and got me totally high. Here are my trophies.
LAMB_Sample_sale_Door_Busters

Of course I rode my bike- it was a glorious blue-sky morning. I rode down 2nd Avenue to 5th Ave & 19th street. It was cool, so jeans came out.
Early morning! Big day! Panda!

I emailed my sample-sale success story to the best No Doubt fansite. They do an awesome job covering every single thing Gwen Stefani does. I am so happy they used my pic!

The Linus is already making serious rounds on the internet.  I mean Kate Middleton!
I wish I had this bag on Monday, because it would have looked awesome with my bright orange skirt.

That skirt is bicycle safety color blast + ruffly pleats were very fun to ride in!

Jenny, the webmaster of Beacon Street reaffirmed my pride in the butterfly print bag by telling me she didn't even know it was produced, so that tells me I snagged something very rare. I'm not usually into the sport of sample sales, but I'm so happy I got there Door-Buster style on this one!

Hot Tamale Nail Polish Doesn't Make it Warmer Outside

Morning Monday
No bicycles. Just can't. Too WiCKED COLD.
Morning Monday
My outfit is - Walmart glasses $3 to protect my eyes from the grit that flies around on the city streets - H&M Scarf - Work sample jacket - Roxy Shirt - L.A.M.B. jeans & sneakers - F21 Beanie in my hand.

Revlon Red Hot Tamale

This polish is Revlon Red Hot Tamale. I want my nails & lips to be ORANGE RED right now.
And that's my My Melody Sanrio for McDonald's Happy Meals watch. Love her.
I also love painting my nails on the Gossip Bench. It's a sweet set-up.

This is my outdoor look for today, after work this evening, in a dressing room at the Gap - Had to hit that clearance again.
I got this L.A.M.B. Torsten Crossbody around Christmas for cheaper than the price at this link, but I like these photos. It's light weight and cross-body is very nice in NYC for hands-free living.

Driven by the Greed

TuTu Tuesday
Today I wore my L.A.M.B. high-top Minnehana sneakers (that I deeply regret not additionally buying in the other color way.) I've also got on my new, super-star thrifted (in Arkansas of course) faux fur jacket. It's from "My Favorite Thrift Store" on JFK in North Little Rock.

In the below video Gwen is talking about her collection that showed in September and stole my heart.
She says she's "Driven by the greed to make cute clothes for myself."
I agree for myself, but my version is about Thrifting: I am driven by the greed to thrift all the cute clothes for myself!

This is my total commuter look:
Quick one
I only took one shot on self-timer. I had to open the door at work this morning. Can't be late!

It was 28ยบ - Looks and feels this cold.
Exactly what it looks & feels like

I'm careful not to run up on these.
Morning

I'm being good and taking my social life easy during these dreary times. If I put my nose to the grindstone, maybe when I look up it will be spring. And maybe I can get one of those L.A.M.B. butterfly print dresses!

Part of My (Clearance, of course) L.A.M.B. Collection

Goold Reeeeebok Hi Tops!
Gold Reebok Hi-Tops
I'm not your typical Dr. Jay's shopper, but it's one of my secret favorite places to find great things on SALE.
Like these Reeboks, baby. Dr. Jays is also the reason why I have 3 pair of L.A.M.B. canvas boat shoes. Three pair. Because they were so marked down, it would have been silly if I didn't get several.

Casual, casual Wednesday. I'm so tired I came straight home. My sleep schedule is screwed and I'm trying to fix it. Straight home! No messin' around!
9/15/10 Bike Outfit
Sometimes I set my camera up to take a pic and sometimes I chop my head off like this.
This outfit wasn't worth the effort of a re-do. Free (from work) jacket, L.A.M.B. jeans, Benetton flowy-tank and Reeboks.

Here's my smelly old baby girl.
"Pet Portrait" setting blows

I'm going to a wedding in North Carolina this weekend, so I packed my bag and figured out my outfit I'm wearing. The L.A.M.B. ones on the RIGHT easily won the competition and they are trusty old comfy heels.
Deciding - No Competition

Here's my L.A.M.B. dress I'm wearing to the wedding. It was on clearance at Shopbop last winter/spring.
Packing

I'm gonna be L.A.M.B. head to toe! I love Gwen so much. She's such a good role model for me. I'm happy giving her my money for clothes & stuff.
