Wednesday Outfit - It's hard to get dressed on Wednesday

This is one of my Raleigh, NC purchases - TJ Maxx clearance top $6.50.

My friend emailed me about a lace cardi today and I was telling her this lace thing isn't gonna stop and this top shows I've jumped on the bandwagon. It's a good top for work... it's nice to have a little bit of sleeve on my arm... but I love that it was $6.50.

Under $10 New Loves

$7 walmart tank top. There are pockets, people!

And what a cute print? It's some of that OP stuff at walmart. Got this in Raleigh.

FYI - Per my trend research at work, tribal prints are here to stay for a while.

I totally rode the bicycle in these wedges of love from Charlotte Russe.

These are my new fake glasses that I'm using as bicycle goggles that were $5 at Walmart.
Fake glasses
In the morning, if the wind fucks with my eyes and makes them water my mascara game is a torture. And in the unlikely event of my going out on Halloween this year (I'll be recovering from the Stewart/Colbert rally and riding a bus) these glasses will be part of my Rachel Maddow costume.

On my ride home this scene turned into a fight:
This turned into an altercation

This is either a celebration or a protest. Couldn't tell, but all that red is Chinese stuff. Chinese flags, outfits, all that jazz.

And my new $9.99 POKETO camera case I got at Target looks precious with my ceramic white camera.
If I will actually USE IT - it will be good, and this little camera can live a long happy life with me.

The Hard Times

I buy stuff a lot. Sometimes it's hard to figure out how I'm going to wear some of the stranger stuff I buy. My life is hard sometimes;) These shoes were hard to figure out. I was also really scared that they would hurt my feet. They're ultra-high-heeled dollhouse brand and seemed too cheap to be comfortable but I had a good day in them complete with bicycle riding.
Original Shoes for Monday

I even got so frustrated with myself for not having a plan for these, that I moved them out in the middle of the floor so that I would see them repeatedly and be reminded that they were brand new and never worn. Today after bringing in all the new stuff I got in North Carolina, I kind of forced myself to figure it out and I'm glad I did.

These jeans aren't black although they only photograph as black-looking. They're really a dark, dark eggplant or burgundy. They were my first "Skinny" jeans and they were from the GAP last year.Monday Outfit + Bike - Heels, yup

The whole outfit.
Monday Outfit - Work + Bicycle
New Target/Raleigh necklace. I think it looks like that brand DanniJo that is super pretty and edgy but dirty expensive. This Target rendition was $14.99. High dollar Target Jewels! Yes!

The top is F21 from that night my dress broke when I was watching the season premiere of Mad Men in Times Square. Thank goodness F21 is open so late and in Times Square or I would have been riding home in a big I <3 NY tee. Which wouldn't have been awful.

Back up to my bike basket- Total mess. So much STUFF in there. I got a new piece of "Basket Candy" but I don't know his real name... yet- He was free in one of the Japanese fashion/lifestyle for adorable girls magazines we get at work.
Bike Basket Candy

This week I'm going to try to figure out how to wear some new stuff and some stuff I've been avoiding because I couldn't crack the case.

Today's photos were taken across the street from the United Nations building on self-timer of course. My commute got screwed over by major barricades, security, bomb squads, big black SUV's and all that. I heard Amanenenejenad from Iran was here/there. Obama's gonna be in town Wednesday. I'll be staying the hell away from this traffic area.

Part of My (Clearance, of course) L.A.M.B. Collection

Goold Reeeeebok Hi Tops!
Gold Reebok Hi-Tops
I'm not your typical Dr. Jay's shopper, but it's one of my secret favorite places to find great things on SALE.
Like these Reeboks, baby. Dr. Jays is also the reason why I have 3 pair of L.A.M.B. canvas boat shoes. Three pair. Because they were so marked down, it would have been silly if I didn't get several.

Casual, casual Wednesday. I'm so tired I came straight home. My sleep schedule is screwed and I'm trying to fix it. Straight home! No messin' around!
9/15/10 Bike Outfit
Sometimes I set my camera up to take a pic and sometimes I chop my head off like this.
This outfit wasn't worth the effort of a re-do. Free (from work) jacket, L.A.M.B. jeans, Benetton flowy-tank and Reeboks.

Here's my smelly old baby girl.
"Pet Portrait" setting blows

I'm going to a wedding in North Carolina this weekend, so I packed my bag and figured out my outfit I'm wearing. The L.A.M.B. ones on the RIGHT easily won the competition and they are trusty old comfy heels.
Deciding - No Competition

Here's my L.A.M.B. dress I'm wearing to the wedding. It was on clearance at Shopbop last winter/spring.
Packing

I'm gonna be L.A.M.B. head to toe! I love Gwen so much. She's such a good role model for me. I'm happy giving her my money for clothes & stuff.

Booty-Booties!

Charlotte Russe cheep-cheep booties workin'! I bought these in black and brown so heads up if you're a regular reader!
Booties be pedalin'

In Central Park

I let a bike cabbie take my bike outfit pic today! He was a pretty smooth dude and offered to take me on a "tour" on his pedi cab. He assured me he can be found in this location all the time if I need to see him again. He did have an impressive binder with sights and the movie posters associated with those sights. Very organized little presentation if I do say so myself. I'm taken, but I appreciated his pedi-cab driver smoothness.

Pedi Cabbie & Me
P.S. - I LOVE how Pedi-Cabs are everywhere and I love the movement to stop using horse-drawn carriages and use pedi-cabs instead.

In addition to riding in heels 2 days in a row, I've started wearing my iPod nano and ONE earbud because gosh, it's so much more fun jamming out and taking in the city and feeling the freedom on the bike. It's like the first time I was in a museum that had a loud, jamming band - Full Sensory Indulgence. It's against the law for bicycle riders to use headphones in/on both ears. I'm upright & civilized, got it?

Seriously, riding in heels and especially these booties is a lot more secure feeling than riding in flip-flops. But I do really love riding in flip flops!

I'm feeling a little anxious about how it's getting dark earlier and how much I may be riding in blackness this fall & winter and how I might be investing in some more/more serious lights. Ok, the city is well-lit, but you know what I'm saying.

Bike Outfit Pics - Lincoln Center MFBW
The gray sky and the stairs worked so awesome with my gray tank. This is at Lincoln Center RIGHT where Mercedes Benz Fashion Week is going on. I actually started out trying to get the sign for MBFW in the shot but it didn't work out. Please note: I take these photos by pulling off the street really fast and propping the camera on a trash can or my helmet or some other stationary object and take a few and get back on my way. I'm deathly afraid of strangers asking me what the hell I'm doing or even worse- asking if they can take the pics for me.

This morning MAC OPulash Mascara had my lashes Bumpin'! They were crazy today! Good hair & Lash day.
IMGP0207

Then I used my Fafi for MAC limited edition (this is O-L-D) lipstick to spice up my gray/black outfit.

I've also been on top of my lipstick game since my hair is so short.

But my hair is doing cute things.

BREAKING NEWS: I rode in HEELS for the first time today. My Cowgirl boots were the warm-up.
Purple Polly Bike Shoes

It was totally fine! I loved it. No issues. And these are freakin' mules. A pump would be a cake-walk.

For my after work commute, I really wanted to go by the address given for Dr. Faye on Mad Men 72nd & Broadway! But it started raining so I had to abort the mission. I got my ass rained on on my way home! It's safe to take pics like this in Central Park with no cars around.
Sad, rained on self

Here's a peek at the potential "spread" of the saggy crotch of these awesome Serueru pants. They're so comfy and grrreat for bicycle riding!

If I would actually go to the gym more than once a month... my triceps/arms could look badashell.

Fashion's Night Out

FNO
Arkansas Thrift Sweater
I chose a comfortable thrifted sweater & jeans AKA Jeggings! And fake keds comfort.
Me & Bonnie

I enlisted a cute little friend who also went to my same college in Arkansas. We weren't at college together at all (she's 7 years younger than me) but her sorority advisor was from my time, and that sorority advisor hooked us up and I'm so glad. Here she is coming out of Juicy Couture on 5th. We decided to not even commit to a glass of champagne there. Too many places to go!
Katie

Our plan was to ride bikes around town, but we just left mine at 45th street and walked from there up to around 70th. I had this strategy that we should stay away from the super-trendy places and head uptown where we would be in a less-crowded environment and hopefully get some nice treatment and not be swept away by a flash mob.

I did install some dumb app on my phone and got BUSY on my twitter account during this madness.

The warm-up sighting that made me feel really good about my strategy was when we walked up on Michelle Branch playing "If I could fall" or whatever her song is/was and there wasn't even a crazy crowd watching her-
Michelle Branch FNOShe was in ANn Taylor.

I'm going to GLAZE over a bunch of stuff b/c we saw so much but we ran into a friend of mine who does amazing make-up. He had done this window-
IMGP0132

We stopped in Herve Leger and we were tempted to participate in their event of trying on a dress and being sketched by an artist. We were feeling too lazy to change out of all our clothes to shimmy into one of those dresses. We had champagne & macaroons to relax and re-group.

I had a really good feeling about the events I had read about at Carolina Herrera. I love her work and hope to one day get a gown or dress from her. I also love that she named her daughter Carolina Herrera Jr.

There was a PR team with clip-board situation outside of it and that made me nervous that there was zero chance of us getting in. Katie simply asked nicely if we could come in and they put us in a small velvet-rope holding pen for a minute then almost instantly let us in.

We took champagne & snacks and I noticed a lady who looked just like Christina Hendricks from Mad Men. Oh my god it was her! I snatched Katie by her collar and we pinned ourselves to the wall in eye-shot of her.

We moved in closer and weren't allowed to photograph her or speak to her - tight security- so I only got this terrible quality photo:
Christina Hendricks @ Carolina Herrera FNO

And outside we took another terrible quality photo in front of the monitor showing what this sketch-man was drawing - he was drawing Christina. I guess to print on these tote bags they were selling.
Katie + Me

We re-re-grouped and decided things couldn't get much better than that.
We were walking back south toward where my bike was locked up and we saw the Ken Truck! I had read that it was going to be a Barbie truck, but it was a Ken Truck and it was indeed precious.
Ken Doll Truck FNO
Ken DollsThey even had the gray plastic twist-tie around their waists!

Katie took a pic with some of the Kens that fell out of the back of the truck:
Katie & Kens

We visited my make-up friend Jesse and he was so miserable working. Last year I was working at PF and I was Supremely miserable dealing with the crowds & mess.
I was soooo happy to go to FNO as a civilian! You can see my photo set on FLickr if you need more. My Photo skills were fast & furious so my pics aren't the best.
Cutest freebie:
FNO Hatch Show Print
Hatch Show Print freshly printed post-cards.

I spent zero dollars unless you count a $2 can of Diet Coke I bought to wet my whistle at the end. I didn't even spend money on cabs cuz I rode the bike!

Bonk! Breaking Stuff

I broke the shit out of my pocket camera... I'm super rough on tiny cameras, but I take a million photos a year or something like that, so I buy a cheap, tiny one and roll like that...
Pentax Optio H90 = Busted

So then I had to use this janky old seriously busted, but functional one...
She's baack
(I took the 2 previous photos of busted tiny cameras using my huge, DSLR that is too fancy to come out and play very much at all, but I've kept it in great condition for over 5 years now, so my system is working.)

I went a few days not even trying to take cute pics due to this busted cameras situation. This grainy mess is my late-night bicycle outfit. I rode way downtown to my hair-cutter's birthday party. The party was cute and they served champagne in a can. Loves it! Hate this grainy photo quality. (Tuesday after work I rectified the situation.)
Home from the party
That was the farthest, latest late-night party ride I've done. It was lovely due to low-memorial day traffic and great weather.

TJ Maxxgasm

I was like silly drunk with a TJ Maxx orgasm after this happened...
TJ Maxx-Gaz'm

I GOT THIS JACKET FOR SEVEN DOLLARS!!!

TJ Maxx-Gasm Jacket

I don't even understand what this leather treatment is, but this is a lightweight SHINY-as-hell leather jacket. We are gonna rock this on the bicycle.

TJ Maxx-Gasm
Self w/New Deal of the Century Jacket
I also got some shoes for THREE DOLLARS. Gold wedges. Wedges are great on the bike. Gold shoes are great at baseline.
New $3 Gold Wedges

And in doing trend research at work and seeing that a military parka thing is an absolute must - I got this one for $24.99. I'm planning on switching out the entire button family with something more special.
TJ Maxx Score
But the fit & Fabric are awesome. Very happy with the Columbus Ave/Upper West Side TJ Maxx.
He's got my back! He's also got a little seating area for the huzzies!
