Bike Outfits + Coco

I've been doing an excellent job of keeping diary foods out of my life. Pat on the back. I think it's a good thing. I went to the gym Sunday and Monday/Memorial Day and I've eaten 2 fat-hell cheeseburgers this week.

Here's my work and bicycle commuter look of the day/Thursday:

These LAMB heels are still unbeatable. I ordered some wedges from Charlotte Russe on the buy 1 pair get the 2nd pair for $10. Summer of Cheap!

I went to see my boo Conan O'Brien on Tuesday night. He was at Radio City Music Hall. It was my 2nd time there. The first time I saw the X-Mas Spectacular and sat up in balcony #17, but I scored a floor seat below-face value for Coco.


Um... who the fuck is Vampire Weekend? Am I that old that I don't even know the surprise band at the coco show? I was nervous the special guests might suck. Then STEPHEN COLBERT came out in a terrible "dad-style" outfit. I was so happy! I love-love-love him! Then Jon Stewart came out in a sparkly outfit and Conan challenged them to a re-match in the form of a dance-battle.


Some other dudes came out but it couldn't get any better than Colbert/Stewart but FYI they were: Bill Hader from SNL, John Krasinski who I'm still mad at for that bad-ass movie he directed, and then my husband's lover, Paul Rudd from CLUELESS!

Conan is emotionally damaged. If you didn't love him and totally support and want to follow him- you would be uncomfortable watching his show. I think.


I got this cheap purse and I'm super happy with it. It weighs nothing and it's a cross-body bag which is imperative for a good quality of life on the streets of New York.

Pannier!

I decided on a pannier because I like big bags. A handle-bar basket probably can't hold my big-ass purses because they aren't this deep.

Woo Big!


I'm so lucky, I haven't used my lock all week. She is an indoor pet.

This basket was less than $20 and it easily hooks onto my back rack. Best part: No more sweaty back from wearing a backpack!




Outfit on the pedestrian bridge. My booty looks big, and maybe it is, but I have little shorts on underneath.

Riding in a DRESS!

I did it! It felt awesome. Thank god I wore panties. Had some close calls. I'm going to buy this 3 pack of bicycle shorts.



This is my 2nd pair of Gold Glitter TOMS. They are so awesome. They look special and feel like slippers. My dress is from Target in Kansas and the belt is H&M and I put a binder clip on the loose-end part.

A cute bicycle girl stopped and ask me a directions question! I don't think I was that helpful, but I'm glad she stopped and asked.


I had my 1-month anniversary at my new job and actually did my first graphic job there. I've done website mock-ups but this was a for-production "hang tag" for an infinity scarf we are producing. I'm happy that it only took the afternoon and I was able to leave on-time and several people were pleased that I could assist in this way. I'm trying to be a chillaxed receptionist. I bet it doesn't last...

Sunset Ride Home

I went out for ONE DRINK at 26th street, so I had a longer commute home but it was super nice and cool!

I pulled over and took some BIKE wardrobe Remix pics. I learned from other cycle chic bloggers that you put your camera on a parked tailgate or something but trucks are rare as hell in NYC, so I positioned my camera on a cement planter.

This is a slightly tense intersection. The cars in the right lane are ZIPPING a hard right and going onto the FDR. They are fucking gassing it. I have to veer right past their turn-lane and go up onto the sidewalk to approach the East River Esplanade. It ain't no thang, but I want to make sure I use the most-proper bicycle/traffic etiquette. I saw someone handle this poorly this morning.


This is the view from ATOP the only real hill I have to deal with. I don't like to coast down it very fast because I know however fast I'm coasting could be how fast I'm sliding down some pavement.


My hair is fucking short:


Really short - growing out the back is going to really, really suck and be hard. Really short hair is good though for not losing my life on blow-dryer time and because I change in and out of a ton of sweaters at the fittings at work. AND my hair doesn't get in the pictures of the clothes that the technical seamstress takes and then photoshops notes onto.

Riding in the Rain...

Despite a gloomy forecast for this Monday, I could not resist the fun of riding the bicycle to work. There was no rain on the way in, and I made such good time that I parked next to The Today Show for a second to confirm that no one special was on...


Parked at a traffic light in the new Greenway/Broadway expanded pedestrian area in Times Square at 8:30am.


And I even cruised by GMA to see if they were in the same situation.


I still got to work soo quickly on the bike! Even after fumbling around on the bike rack with that crazy lock.

This is my outfit - Monday dark rainy colors. I didn't ride in these heels. I rode in my Gold Glitter TOMS.


My ride home was a little different. It was officially RAINING. It was kind of fun after I warmed up a little bit. I wish I had a towel because wet-hands was the least enjoyable part. I think my helmet's brim protected my eyes and face.

I took a different route on the way home - I was more conscious of following Official NYC Bike Lanes in the rainy conditions. Do not want to get smashed in the street in the rain.

I'm at 8th Ave slightly south of Columbus Circle. You can see the Globe statue.


Central Park South facing East: Stopping to be self-impressed with my time, despite being extra-cautious and taking a round-about route.

I got pretty wet and my hands were wet, cold and very miserable the whole ride home BUT I still rode very slow & safe and 95% of the way in bike lanes and I still made better time than riding the subway + bus.
