Good Week So Far and Tomorrow's Friday!

I've had a good week. I've been eating well, riding bicycle every day to work and back...
Propping my camera up on trash cans to take photos of myself...
IMGP1784

My summer has been awesome and my fall is already looking like a fast-paced fun time. I'm starting to think about things to wear since it's August and I'm definitely cursing the heat. I'm also very tired of all the window unit air conditioners dripping on me when I walk down the sidewalks. (Almost no one has central air in NYC - Even the building Grace Kelley lived in has window units.)

I'm going to mix some plaid with some leopard like this hottie in the new Teen Vogue, (I think it's Teen Vogue)

I monitor the incoming magazines at work and have been very lucky to be able to study them very slowly this week.

Scientific J-Skills

I've been being really allergy-sick lately and I've been doing a BAD JOB at taking vitamins, because I'm forgetful and don't like pills/medicine.

Definite scientific finding: Since I've been pretty much off vitamins, my white-trash leg bruises are back.

Got to get back on the vitamins. However, I have been taking care of my hair. I got a new cut after work. I got my roots colored so the color difference is subtle. She put some highlights just on the top.

This necklace is some Arkansas Thrift. It's some old-lady JCP brand like Worthington or something for grannies. Lesson learned: Don't hate on Granny Brands! This looks cute with my billabong tank. Good for work. Takes the (lack-of) edge off such a surfer-girl-brand top.

There were really only 2 girls in Dinner for Schmucks, which we previewed on Thursday night. Kristen Schaal, or Mel from Flight of the Conchords was in it, and that was great. Then there was this cutie pie, Stephanie Szostak. Stephanie's hair got burned into my brains with it's cuteness.
hair inspiration - stephanie szostak - cute short hair
I think it's going to cause a haircut mania and I warned my ladies at the salon.

This is a really good example of a Summer of Cheap outfit. I got the tank on clearance for $9.99 and these are my buy 2-fer Charlotte Russe wedges back in action.

Fat Hell Ninjas

I have some friends from college who I've been email food journaling with for a while - several weeks. Mostly since I got put on the "Keep your waist 28" or under" fit-modeling plan at work. I got quite a scare and luckily, I have some close friends who were in for getting fit & healthy with me.

When my seamstress measured me and found that my waist was creeping over 28" she was gobsmacked when I told her I had been eating and drinking WHITE BREAD and BEER! She fell the fuck out. I'm 30 and need to straighten-up now anyway!

We've been emailing our confessions of what we slipped-up and ate and we've also been inspiring one another to eat better! Sometimes we share recipes and strategies. Snack Strategies and Skinny Girl Snacks are imperative!

We sometimes threw in some photos and one person in the group really likes photos. I think it's another great way to keep yourself accountable for what you've ingested.

Sometimes, when disgusting food is before me, I think "I should not put this in my body!" Like McDonald's fake coffee drinks!

I'm also inspired by words from the insane book "Skinny Bitch" about envisioning what you put in your body/eat - seeping out of your pores. Like, you want your skin to be gorgeous so don't ingest POISON!

So, with no further adue, I present in conjunction with some awesome friends: Fat Hell Ninjas.

Roxy Paper Bag Waist Skirt

I made my hair appointment last week, but it's still 3 weeks away.
The top is so thick! Don't want to cut it myself and upset the team.

I ate this super healthy, mostly green (literally) lunch. I was in desperate need of a hunk of bread by 5pm.

There's OKRA on the bottom of my lunch box/container. Okra is scarce in New York!

To Arkansas & Back

Farm Panorama
I think I should have put up a warning post - I have been away. I've been pleasantly "unplugged" as well. No real internet for days and days. I refused when offered.
This farm was an exhilirating sight for my NYC dirty-sidewalk-and-greasey-pigeon eyes.

I did a lot of thrift shopping but I mailed almost all of it home. It will be several days before it gets delivered and cleaned or aired out and worked into the wardrobe, but I'm excited to take pics and share the goodness!

My first morning in Arkansas, I had a euphoric Wal-Mart Experience.
All of this wonderful booty was less than $50.
All the sweet goods I got at Wal-Mart

$15 wal-mart outfit! I asked a few people and no one believes in Keds. It's almost like - I didn't ask you - I'm telling you - adorable girls in New York City are wearing Keds and the fact that wal-mart has these cute ones for $5... and you don't care? Get into it.
$15 Wal-Mart Outfit
The romper is OP at Wal-Mart and it's a size 11 - 13 from the girls section. Fake wal-mart keds $5.
I think I'm the skinniest I've been since I was 20 and had a crazy summer break-up and sad time where all I did was go running and go to my ONE summer school class.
Legs skinniest they've been in years (10 years I think)

I tried to eat "well" in Arkansas. It's super hard! But I barely ate Sonic. I went into Kroger grocery stores MANY TIMES to buy huge containers of cut-up fruit to eat, but of course, I fell into the arms of fat-hell a few times. When I did fall, I only ate half of it.

My blog gets traffic from people looking for "Skinny Girl Snacks" and I have news for you- It's fruit. Fruit is the #1 Skinny Girl Snack in the world.
This "coffee drink" at McDonald's made me want to cry, it's so fat-nasty. This is like a sugar water with a "pump" of fake coffee flavor in it. I drank some of it then added diet coke to make it less horrific. It tastes amazing but I wanted to cry because I was putting it in my body. (I ran the next morning, literally, around the neighborhood.)

Then I peeled an orange and ate that sucker!
Skinny Snacks
Of all the price comparisons I did - NYC vs. Arkansas - Fruit prices weren't really cheaper than NYC. Sad.
A banana is $1 at Sonic and a banana is never ever more than fifty cents in New York.

Weekend Make-Up Report - (Dirty, Dirty Hair)

I haven't washed my hair in days. I'll have to think hard to remember the last time I washed it. I'm on a hard core Monday + Thursday wash schedule. But this edition is about my weekend Make-Up.

I've definitely been to the make-up store twice or thrice since the last time I washed this mop.

Learning new things and freshening up the kit - The lipsticks were free on Back 2 MAC.
IMGP0624

This might seem excessive, but it's going to last me a long time and cover my zits and imperfections without imperfection. I bought my shade of concealer - NC20 - in 2 different forms. A little tube of liquid and a pot of cream.
NC20 x's 2 Forms = Brilliant

Um... this is my natural face to go to Michael's & Target in the Bronx:

I love this new lip-look- Dervish Liner and Shy Girl Lipstick on top:
MAC lip - Shy GIrl Lipstick on Dervish Liner

And I had a good lash day - They aren't even curled. This is the YSL Volume mascara. Its days are numbered on the 3-month scale, so I need to use her up. I'm also pumping my new Grey Utility Eye Liner.
Good "Lash" Day
I've got some new Brow Set on in "Girl Boy." I like it. I think when I do pencil, my brows look too severe. They are severe with nothing on them.

SATURDAY! Shopping, Shopping, Shopping Manhattan.

The following are eye lashes coated in the $14 MAC Opulash Mascara. I'm dying/Living actually, because it's HALF THE PRICE Of the YSL Mascara!!! It's badass. I'm in $14 Love.

I ate a lot of healthy food that I prepared at home and Matt and I ran the Reservoir 2-Laps together on Sunday, talking mad junk all the way about people not following Central Park Reservoir Etiquette. Go Counter-Clockwise, people!

We did 2 laps = A 5k in 32 minutes. I declared "I'm a freaking' Elite Runner!" after that.
I'm feeling good when I work out, I just need to do it more often.

Walking home from running in the park, I saw this little-girl dress up place in our neighborhood with this magnificent, huge, beautiful Sea Horse in the window.

Weekend Food & Exercise Report

VERY home alone this weekend. Friday night - Leftover tomato/shrimp/basil pasta and an early bedtime. Maybe I ate a little bit of Breyer's. Just a little. Like half a cup.

Saturday: WOKE UP, walked Bonnie, drank coffee. Almond Milk. Sent Matt off to camping-camp.
JOGGED to the Central Park Reservoir. Ran around it once at a great pace, sun-blaring, felt so good I decided to do a 2nd lap. That's over 3 miles right there not including the trip from and back to the apartment all the way on the East Side.

I fixed 2 egg whites, 2 veggie sausage patties with salsa and 2 pc. of Fiber & FLax bread-toast with butter.
Post 3-mi run breakfast meat-free

I packed a bag to spend the day at Central Park with full intentions of reading the new John Waters book, "Role Models" because I'm going to see him tomorrow night at the NYPL @ Bryant Park.
Role Models - John Waters

MY CENTRAL PARK BAG CONSISTED OF: The only drink I had in a travel-bottle. I found a HUNK of Frozen Club Soda in the back of our refrigerator. Matt took all the travel bottles camping and I refused to buy a plastic water bottle. I added some juice to the HUNK of Frozen Club Soda and a little Tito's Vodka. I'm super crafty and classy, I know.

I took Wheat Thins to snack on and a Granola Bar thing. I used the empty juice bottle to carry water for Bonnie-dog and I packed some Milk Bones for her to snack on. I was serious about spending the whole daylight day in Central Park reading.
Good Girls - Central Park

SUNDAY: Walked Bonnie - Head was BUMPING I think because I sleep so much longer on the weekends that My body freaks out from the Coffee Consumption Delay. "Coffee Consumption Delay Distress" CCDD. I've been coming up with some sweet diagnoses lately since my doctor husband is SUCH a terrible family practitioner. He's a specialized specialist, therefore, useless for doctor stuff around the house. He knows any Mother with a Redbook MD trumps whatever he says.

So anyway - I was drinking a ton of coffee so I could get jazzed to clean the apartment. I got a major coffee high and cleaned our shit like Martha Stewart is coming over. Amazing job.

So my breakfast was 6 VEGGIE buffalo wings around noon.
At 3 I ate a bowl of Kashi cereal with Almond Milk - DELICIOUS.

At 4pm I went to the GYM. I lifted some awesome weights then ran 3 miles @ 10min/mile pace.

Then I was fucking STARVING so I drank a bunch of water and walked Bonnie.

I ate MORE LEFTOVER wheat pasta with basil/shrimp and tomatoes.

Then I met Tyler for Pinkberry. Luckly it's like frozen weird yogurt so I don't feel damaged by it.
Then I was snack-crazy and just ate a roll of Turkey deli meat. Tracy Anderson HATES deli meat but I can't be perfect all the time.

NEW IDEAS FOR THE FUTURE SKINNY SELF: Never eat YELLOW CHEESES or any Yellow cheese products and NEVER EVER eat Ranch Dressing Ever again. Not in any form. Not even a Ranch potato chip.

I've been googling "Skinny Girl Snacks" and there is a lack of resources so I'm going to start presenting "Skinny Girl Snacks"
#1. Eat a fucking piece of fruit. I've been doing good eating Oranges and other Fruit Cart items.

Bike Outfits + Coco

I've been doing an excellent job of keeping diary foods out of my life. Pat on the back. I think it's a good thing. I went to the gym Sunday and Monday/Memorial Day and I've eaten 2 fat-hell cheeseburgers this week.

Here's my work and bicycle commuter look of the day/Thursday:

Arkansas Thrift tank top
American Apparel unisex corduroy shorts

These LAMB heels are still unbeatable. I ordered some wedges from Charlotte Russe on the buy 1 pair get the 2nd pair for $10. Summer of Cheap!

Yesterday I stopped for a bike pic.
Anna Sui Tank

Anna Sui tank that I got on clearance for less than $20
Joe's Jeans I've been rocking for a long time now - I keep all my raw jeans dark by getting them dry cleaned only.
My lipstick matching my ruffle caused a stir at the office.

Across the way:
Queensboro Bridge/East River

I went to see my boo Conan O'Brien on Tuesday night. He was at Radio City Music Hall. It was my 2nd time there. The first time I saw the X-Mas Spectacular and sat up in balcony #17, but I scored a floor seat below-face value for Coco.
Pre-Show

Um... who the fuck is Vampire Weekend? Am I that old that I don't even know the surprise band at the coco show? I was nervous the special guests might suck. Then STEPHEN COLBERT came out in a terrible "dad-style" outfit. I was so happy! I love-love-love him! Then Jon Stewart came out in a sparkly outfit and Conan challenged them to a re-match in the form of a dance-battle.
Colbert + Coco

Some other dudes came out but it couldn't get any better than Colbert/Stewart but FYI they were: Bill Hader from SNL, John Krasinski who I'm still mad at for that bad-ass movie he directed, and then my husband's lover, Paul Rudd from CLUELESS!

Conan is emotionally damaged. If you didn't love him and totally support and want to follow him- you would be uncomfortable watching his show. I think.
Team Coco Love

I got this cheap purse and I'm super happy with it. It weighs nothing and it's a cross-body bag which is imperative for a good quality of life on the streets of New York.

No married couple's weekend would be complete without a trip to the Home Depot. We planted some things on our terrace. I also scrubbed the terrace down like a Cinderella.
Day 1

This pic happened fast, and it's super pretty:
Bicycle Portrait - 5/24 - on my way home

This is a major cheap-o outfit. H&M Vest - $20, Dress from Marshall's - $12.99, Flip-flops from DUANE READE the drug store- $4.99.
Still have major leg-bruises.

Back to SATURDAY! I made this pasta dish. Martha suggested I make this per her badass iPhone app.
Martha told me how to make this

We did a picnic in Central Park. We had to sit near a fence to have something STRONG to tie Bonnie to and a few people stopped to look at us as if we were zoo animals. Bonnie is definitely a beast to gaze upon.

Here's the scene on beach towels.
