Hair update: Growing a haystack

sept_12_hair
I haven't talked about my hair in a while. It's super long.
I had a bit of a trauma and I'm just getting over it, so now I can talk about it. I went to a new colorist and she put some dark brown streaks in my hair. I didn't cry, but I made her re-do it.

I don't know why in the world she thought it was OK to put dark streaks. Not OK.

This means it's crunchy-dry. I got these fiercest rehabilitator Kerastase, and it's recovering from the crunchies. It's kind of nice being so cotton-y though, I'm embracing my 1960's style cotton-boll hair.

I've had one haircut since I've been in Arkansas, and I got it at the Paul Mitchell Beauty School for $10. The student did a good job and I'll be back to get her to trim this hay stack.

I should have just gotten it colored at the beauty school.

My SPF Game is Tight

My dermatologist is an adorable little humming bird of a young woman and I really pissed her off. She was really mad at me, like, scolding me about the sun damage on my shoulders when she recently gave me a skin inspection. I know this is totally because I bike in tanks and tubes.   Tank top commutes have begun and I’ve got my sun-protection game together so she won’t be disappointed in me and I can save my lily white skin.

Tips from my adorable and well-trained dermatologist: SPF 30 at all times and reapply every 2 hours.
And anything labeled with “Sport” and “water proof” is BS and the FDA is probably going to ban companies from labeling products with those terms in the future, so don't bother.

My selection process: I basically went on drugstore.com and filtered highest-rated & price and I’ve been using these two for about a week and I wanted to share because I think I picked two winners.
Inspect them for yourself here:

Philosophy Shelter SPF 30 for Face (I don't think the tint is noticeable.)
Lubriderm Advanced Therapy SPF 30 Note: I do like to smell a little like sunscreen and I sometimes play the alligator in the Lubriderm commercials my skin is so dry.

Weekend Make-Up Report - (Dirty, Dirty Hair)

I haven't washed my hair in days. I'll have to think hard to remember the last time I washed it. I'm on a hard core Monday + Thursday wash schedule. But this edition is about my weekend Make-Up.

I've definitely been to the make-up store twice or thrice since the last time I washed this mop.

Learning new things and freshening up the kit - The lipsticks were free on Back 2 MAC.

This might seem excessive, but it's going to last me a long time and cover my zits and imperfections without imperfection. I bought my shade of concealer - NC20 - in 2 different forms. A little tube of liquid and a pot of cream.
NC20 x's 2 Forms = Brilliant

Um... this is my natural face to go to Michael's & Target in the Bronx:
Sunday Styles - Casual - Bronx Shopping

I love this new lip-look- Dervish Liner and Shy Girl Lipstick on top:
MAC lip - Shy GIrl Lipstick on Dervish Liner

And I had a good lash day - They aren't even curled. This is the YSL Volume mascara. Its days are numbered on the 3-month scale, so I need to use her up. I'm also pumping my new Grey Utility Eye Liner.
Good "Lash" Day
I've got some new Brow Set on in "Girl Boy." I like it. I think when I do pencil, my brows look too severe. They are severe with nothing on them.

SATURDAY! Shopping, Shopping, Shopping Manhattan.

The following are eye lashes coated in the $14 MAC Opulash Mascara. I'm dying/Living actually, because it's HALF THE PRICE Of the YSL Mascara!!! It's badass. I'm in $14 Love.

Dirty hair is working well for me.

I ate a lot of healthy food that I prepared at home and Matt and I ran the Reservoir 2-Laps together on Sunday, talking mad junk all the way about people not following Central Park Reservoir Etiquette. Go Counter-Clockwise, people!

We did 2 laps = A 5k in 32 minutes. I declared "I'm a freaking' Elite Runner!" after that.
I'm feeling good when I work out, I just need to do it more often.

Walking home from running in the park, I saw this little-girl dress up place in our neighborhood with this magnificent, huge, beautiful Sea Horse in the window.
