Coral Face + Opulash!

The other night I went to get some make-up education from my good friends at MAC. I've always gone to the one at Henri Bendel on 5th Ave., because it's the best location walking distance of my apartment and of course, Bendel's is fancy. Who doesn't want to have a fancy time? And now I have these Loves!

My make-up Loves

I am into "Lady Make-up" lately since I work at such a lovely, normal company now.
See my outfit of the day?

Total "Lady" style.

I got a grey eyeliner, coral Cremesheen Glass - it feels amazing. (This is not my first shade in this formula.)
I got the Cremesheen Glass in the shade/color "Richer, Lusher"

The Power Point eyeliner in a completely matte Grey Utility.

And I got their new mascara - Opulash. Their answer to Dior Show, which I love. OMG I just looked it up and Opulash is HALF THE PRICE of Dior SHOW! Get into it.

This is the very first application of my new tube of Opulash and I don't think the wand-brush is even saturated. I'm saying it's going to get better than this:

I took this pic because I can't get over the huge wand on the Opulash. And now I can't get over the fact that it's half the price of Dior Show. WHat's up with that?! It's awesome, but dang! This wand is as big or bigger than my eye.

Fresh little cut

Fresh Haircut 5/27

I love my salon + it's/my girls (Eva Scrivo Salon - Gwynne & Amanda.) I didn't know what my hair needed exactly, but I emailed and got a next-day appointment. I sat in the chair and talked aimlessly, and got up and demonstrated how I look at the back of my hair to my colorist. She actually paid attention to my crazy paranoid hair issues. We started looking at it, and decided the real solution was a cut. My colorist does not cut hair. At all. I was about to beg her to just cut it a little bit in a few places. Turns out my cutter was in the house and completely not expecting to see me - she was actually getting her hair colored/glazed, but she was totally down to give me a bit of a cut.

I got a fresh Glaze put on and a little but cut. Very cute! She cut 2 key places and that really fixed me up.

Fresh Hair - Glaze & Cut

Today I got out of work at 2pm for the Holiday and I rode up to West Elm on the Upper West Side. Upper West Side means I needed to ride across Central Park to get Home. It was AWESOME! No traffic means SO MUCH LESS BICYCLE commuter STRESS!

Nothing but carriages (which STUNK! Horse Poops!) other bikes and joggers/walkers and rick-shaw taxis.

$4.99 Cycle Chic flip flops - NYC Cycle Style

Bike Style - Easy Riding
Helmet, always! I'm still loving this bike. I wish my lock wasn't so heavy because I can never-not-have it. Boo! I think it weighs 6 pounds.

So today when I came home, I parked my bike in the courtyard and carried my purse, basket and bag of new super-clearance West Elm towels upstairs then carried a pretty naked bike down the stairs into the storage room. Bicycle commuting is a whole new world of strategizing.

Shopping requires strategy too. You have to find a place to lock it up, then secure it and carry all of the crap you were previously carrying into the store to buy more crap to carry. I've been lucky tying on cloth grocery bags.

And here's my work/bicycle outfit for today - Ultra casual day at work:
Outfit of 5/27

I've gotten my money's worth out of these $4.99 flip-flops! I wish I could find more of them.

Major Color

Thursday outfit - I owned 2 parts of this outfit before Katy Perry came out in them- The hearts belt and the hearts shoes. But I do like KP. Her skin is porcelain but she's really a normal looking person. With eerily flawless skin and massive boobs for a 5'7" girl.

OMG - My camera needs to fucking jump off a cliff. I know. It's like a camera phone! Mama's back in the workforce so new camera coming soon. Bicycle coming sooner! Really looking forward to bike commuting. I'm going to need some new spandex bike shorts. They will actually be good for the fittings at work.

When I need to try on stuff at work I usually put in a black tank top & leggings and take off my outfit but sometimes there's no time and I'm not modest after my life at PF so sometimes I just change. Everyone is very complimentary and nice about my body. I did go through and toss out tons of old panties and I will focus in the future on buying more lingerie that will be better for public viewing.

Friday Look:
Pink Cords - Friday Outfit

I thought reading Seventeen Magazine would be really fun and awesome but it was a let-down. I didn't know any of the "famous" girls inside. I only learned about a cheap new hoochie-clothes online store.

But I did like all the attention given to (anti-)Teen Pregnancy.
photo.jpg

Matt was really into "16 & Pregnant" the other night and I loved him for it. The Corey & Leah story deserved the 90min. it got.

We went to see the new Tina Fey & Steve Carell movie "Date Night" last night. It was cute. Not amazing. It was funny in how it highlights being married = being boring. I think we are doing OK in the anti-boring department. There are spells where we spend too much time in Home Depot!

Wardrobe Remix Crash!

When I was (I am not comfortable with the term "unemployed") house-wifing, I really enjoyed spending a lot of time getting ready and putting on elaborate make-up and then taking the time before I went anywhere to set up my tripod to take photos of myself. So housewife!

Day 2 and this is all I've got in me:

Magenta

This pic is from Jan. 21st. but this is one hell of a Magenta lip. I belive it is MAC "Girl About Town" or "Amplified" on top of an equally rich lip-liner.

Just a slice of BlackTrack in the pot applied with the tiniest, sharpest brush. The 210 Eyeliner brush.

I can dig 30

My Dad asked how I feel about the big mile-stone birthday I've got coming up, and I'm really happy. I mean, I hate my gray/cold/snow & ice birthday but I feel happy to be 30.
Last days of 29
Dad sounded pleasantly surprised.

I also have been spending zero money, except for groceries b/c I've been cooking dinner for me & my man, but I'm not desiring clothing purchases like I normally did... in my sleep. I think the first things I'll like to buy when I get a job is event tickets. I heard Maddow is coming back to the 92Y and The Gossip is coming again in April.

I'm bored today because it's a blizzard and I do not want to go outside, but I was trying to make a mental list of indulgent things I would like to buy and nothing really comes to mind. That feels much stranger than the big 3-0!

I think my pot of Kerastase conditioner will last me until I get a job. Holy lord it's expensive but so worth it.

I think my 30's are going to be really awesome. I'm feeling pretty cute for a very soon to be 30 year old.

My hair is really thick and nuts and this is bed-head/last-night's make-up.

Winged-eyeliner Wed.

This is pretty boring, but here we go! Winged eyeliner. Walk Bonnie to Central Park.
First- Here's the other side of the Guggenheim. The Guggenheim is so iconic, but I feel like you don't get shown this other side of it.

No one cares about the short action on the left:

Here's Bonnie being a maniac for squirrels. We spend a lot of time standing perfectly still, as she is paralyzed with the desire to murder them.
Bonnie acting nuts

Here's my winged eyeliner. Hey, it's kind-of dreary today. I wasn't in the mood to blend shadow.

Here's my "big Central Park rendezvous" dog walking outfit. I added a hat.

Monday

This week is already much more action-packed than last week. I'm in cahoots with some people & things that could turn into jobs or something similar.

I had like 3 meetings today - I've got some appointments tomorrow and maybe even Wed. but Wed. I hope I'm not too tied up because there's a preview day at The Whitney for their Biennial show and I would like to be there!

The bottom half of this outfit was absolutely nothing to be proud of so you'll not be shown that photo.
Here's my face with some MAC Pro Longwear lipstick. I'm not sure which color, but obviously the "coral-y" one.

Monday
I look beat - I am beat. I didn't get much sleep. I weighed myself at the gym and I think I've lost a little weight. Niiice!!!

Green Eyes/Wednesday Night

Hmm... what is some bullshit outfit I can throw on?
Wed. night outfit

Matt's watching b-ball so let's do an intricate eye-shadow look to kill time.
We are wearing a green tank top so let's just roll with that.

And I love the sequin tube top underneath:
Eye Shadow + Sequins
The necklace is from my child-hood pen-pal, Amalia's wedding. It was my b-maid gift/jewelry. My dress didn't survive the night- I threw it away at the hotel, but I wear this necklace and the earrings (separately) pretty regularly. They're both top-5 accessories.

Meghan's parents (love me and I love them) sent me an Aloha Obama bobble-head and he's going places. First off - 5th Ave for the Apple store & Plaza Hotel!

The Plaza doesn't look like herself right now, because she's covered in snow and the fountain is all dried up. Sad.

Make-Up Stuff

Since I "lost" my 2009 blogs... I'm putting these make-up ones back up because I got so many emails about their goodness and inspiration.

I've also opened my blog back up to keyword searches by Google. This was a deliberate and well-thought-out move in my new career situation.

Here's a look that came from a Revlon eye-shadow quad purchased on-sale at the Duane Reade:
New revlon eyeshadows
It's like a "denim" colors quad.
And I wear MAC prolash mascara. I try new kinds of MAC mascara, but I always go back to pro-lash. Coal black, please.

These were the color-items involved:

Here's the little custom palette MAC sells. I broke out the harness that would hold 4 eye-colors in place because I sometimes put a blush in here:

Here are my favorite new eye-brow tools.
The Sally Hansen eye-brow shapers I saw on Toddlers & Tiaras and it's fast for when you don't want to pluck. It makes the area under your eye-brow really smooth. The Revlon Brown Brow Fantasy pencil is simply bad-ass.
