I Lurve Birth Control Glasses

I can't believe there are still huge snow mountains everywhere. Go away!
I got this cardigan at Forever 21 last night in a whiplash shopping spree.



I just started reading Man Repeller and I'm in love. She's precious. I love her use of the term "Birth Control GLasses" This Saturday I'm taking Matt to get some glasses from a brand she wears Warby Parker.

This is an old pic, but today I wore these trusty old Charlotte Russe booties I wore to death in the fall.





I try to let this L.A.M.B. bag rest because I love it so much, and I'm going to be Dev-A-STATE-ED when it breaks/wears out. I try really hard to let it rest but I just can't help myself.

She needs to live forever!!!

Pink Puffer Bicycle Style Ridin' All the Miles...

I was able to safely and confidently commute today and it felt awesome!

I love my new Roxy puffer. It's so bright and cozy and I could feel the powerful electric pink repelling cars from driving too close to me.

I also had an amazing hair day. I got the vented brush Gwynne told me to get and I used the brush & blow-dry technique she just taught me.


It's like take a vented little brush and brush it to one side really drastic and then go the other way...and the back will look nice and smooth like this:


Often I use these benches as a tripod for my self-timer bicycle shots but they were still covered in snow-


Many things are still covered in snow, but the streets were quite clear - They re-enacted parking tickets and the laws about moving your car around, so people had to dig their cars out and this cleared that area where bicyclists ride. That factor and near 40º temps had me high on bicycle life.




I ended up removing the hood because it was distracting in my periferral vision. I still feel super-safe in this hot-ass pink puffer. -With lights at night on my way home of course!

I'm Icy Cycle Chic and I Don't Mean Diamonds!

I was going to do self-timer shots standing with my bicycle, but it was too snowy/icy.



I should have known when my bike tire busted through this ice-hole.




But it wasn't that cold. I saw 32º on the CNN clock around 8:30am. 



Here's my pre-helmet look.



I did leg-warmers under these wide leg, super-high-waist Joe's Jeans of love.

They don't match but I think they helped. 


I actually got sweaty-back this morning. My fingers were fine. My toes hung in there.

I had on these shoes with thin ankle socks.


And this was my indoor look. I'm very hot at my desk at work. My t-shirt is another GAP ultra-clearance piece.  Don't let this online price fool you, the tag said $8.97 and then 40% off on top of that. Work!



Don't hate on high-waist jeans - they make my waist look TINY!




2-days dirty hair. Whatever, let's go!

Just another gray old winter Thursday.


*Today's activities are brought to you by a hungover state of health. Wednesday night I drank too much and ate a small pile of lettuce so Thursday I woke up feeling OK, rode to work, then immediately wanted to sneak in and go to sleep in a pile of sweaters in the storage room. 

Thursday Outfit/Beauty Stuff

It was really pretty cold today. Matt had a bad dream that one of us got into a bicycle accident and asked me to not ride. I walked Bonnie before 7am and felt that the weather was do-able, so I rode. It was a little warmer than freezing.

I still need ear cover.

Here's my outerwear look:

This coat is a vintage Jordache Arkansas Thrift piece.
And I wore a helmet of course! It's the purple/black/white one and it's in the front basket.

I broke out some FUGLY gloves today but it was necessary/glad I did.

OMG I love my Sanrio 50th Anniversary watches I've collected from Happy Meals. I haven't discussed it here but my Facebook has been ablaze with my quest to collect them all!

That's my new F21 shirt I got last night. So comfy and plenty long.
The vest is something I started wearing last spring around the office as a joke, they they gave me one and it took me a while to figure out how to wear it and not feel like a silly cavegirl costume.
I'm doing my best to keep these Levi's jeggings as ink-black as possible. Wish me luck.

And here was my make-up before I went out the door to get all of this mess started. MAC Girl About Town lipstick is one of my favorite tricks. This was also a Psssssst! dry shampoo morning and a L'Oreal Million Lashes in black/brown day.

Pretend it's not wrinkly, OK.

I moved stuff around in my closet last night. Doing that really sometimes does trick you into thinking things are new again. This is an old thrifted secretary-style dress. Of course I had it hemmed to this shortness.





Yesterday I had a bad time on my bicycle ride home and I blamed it on the fact that my outfit looked masculine and cars/taxis were aggressive with me. -Honking, boo. So, today I made sure I looked extra girly and I think swear cars were more cordial. For example- at a stoplight I'm on the edge like 5 cars back and this towncar does a little tiny edge move to make room for me to pass.



We get some Japanese fashion mags at work and the accessories and the skinniness are the hardest parts to tolerate, as in, the accessories make me want them so bad I can't see straight and the skinny girls baffle me. This heart-shaped faux chanel bag for example is something that makes me light-headed. I'm going to email it to my JP friend for translation and to see if it can be ordered online and sent to America.


My accessories for today + bike basket - LAMB bag and thrifted Margaret cowgirl belt.


And pedi-cabbies all have the same line- "Wanna race?" -We were suffering through Rockefeller Xmas Tree Lighting TRAFFIC.


There are so many fun Christmas decorations going up - I can't wait to stop & take bicycle portraits in front of these attractions. I hope it stays warm enough (and I get tough enough) to keep riding.

Fly-Day Fri-Day

Friday in Central Park of course, on my way to work. It's peaceful when I come through because it's pretty early. Just a bunch of joggers and other commuters and taxi's going way too fast .



Leaving work at the end of the day.
Headed to meet up with Matt and co-worker friends at a birthday party.


I rode down in front of Macy's and the Christmas tourists were THICK and I had to move very slowly.


It's fun to ride home with Matt sometimes. Friday night riding up 1st Ave was very peaceful so we were able to talk during most of it. We only had to go about 40 blocks.


I cut my hairs on Thursday night because I felt like it's been a dull lump lately. I razor cut a sink-full of hair off, just to thin it out and make the bangs shorter so my whole face shows more easily. I have a straight-razor thing that I cut my hair with that I got at SALLY beauty supply several years ago to just thin it out occasionally.

I also lucked into a good skin & makeup day. MAC Illegal Cargo shadow is a big player here. I tried to link to it on the MAC site, and couldn't find it, so maybe it's discontinued. It's just a light purple. Nothing fancy. My lip color is just Test Pattern (long discontinued) lip liner on top of some Blistex. 

This little bow necklace came from Charlotte Russe not long ago. 

First day of Red Converse Sneakers

My play-brother got me this vintage sheep fur/skin cape. I'm so glad I've got him! xxxx



My basket is ripped and ripping!

My Basil brand pannier/basket has been ripping for a while. It was only $20. I really like it though. I might try to darn it like a sock with floral wire or something else from the hardware store.
