I get a bunch of emails about NYC events and occasionally my eye is caught and I RSVP'd to attend a Free Screening of the new Julianne Moore + Annette Bening movie "The Kids are All Right" Sometimes you RSVP to things in New York knowing you won't get accepted to attend. I got lucky! Since I work at a much more normal place where I don't go to work-related parties & events - I was a little excited to go to this. The new civilian apparel-company-worker Julie was stoked.

I really needed to go home and clean and pack. But I went anyway. I really wanted to see this film and I got to see it not only for FREE, but also about 2 weeks before the release date. My only beef - It was hard to find a place to lock up my bicycle! I had to lock it to a sign near a construction site. Risky!
It was in a fancy-schmancy building on 5th Ave. 666 5th Ave., actually. I rode a little elevator up to a skinny movie theatre. The chairs were cushy and everything was upholstered in soft gray fabric. I think this is the sort of place for press/whatever/award screenings.
After the film there was a Q&A period with the writers/director and it was conducted by a journalist from Entertainment Weekly, I believe. I liked his interview style.
Annette Bening played the "man" in the lesbian relationship. She was also playing a doctor and she was really funny and did some similar behaviors to my HUSBAND! He's totally a lesbian and a doctor! I loved it. It's a really sweet movie. I didn't see them really as a gay couple because I've lived through so much NYC fashion gay culture submersion. I saw them as 2 people in a relationship - I don't want people to get caught up in the fact that this is about a gay lady couple.
Julianne Moore gives a lot of "body" in this if you know what I mean and she lets real stuff show. Cellulite & a nipple or 2. Overall very lovely movie and a very lovely, free experience. Also, the scenery is really pretty wherever they filmed it. The homes used are right up my "taste" alley.
Holy crap! I almost forgot! This black chick from the movie is the SEXIEST BLACK CHICK I'VE EVER SEEN! SO in love with her. Hottest body ever. I feel like she's going to be BIG. Her name is Yaya DaCosta and I'm a fan. She's hot as hell and her character is great. She's sexy and absolutely adorable! I LOVE being me, but I'm a little jealous of how awesome she is.
