Parsons Sr. Thesis Show

_JPH0061
Today was awesome! My friend Gilda did her senior presentation at Parsons. Parsons is Fierce. I've seen the FIT Student show and this Parsons crowd kicked that ass! (Con-Ed classes are like $500 - owww!)

I don't watch Project Runway but I kept thinking this was like real life project runway.

Each student had 10 minutes to present a fall 2010 line. The front row was a panel of judges/professors/jurors if you will. I was able to leave work early since I went in before I officially started to do some fit modeling. I was free to enjoy all the presentations but I don't know how to control my DSLR camera and the pics aren't that hot but here we go!

Here's Gilda!

She is going to be really legit one day. She already is. I think she'll be famous. Or, I should say, her brand will be famous!

This boy is going to be high-profile. He had such a wonderful, funny personality. He talked about the care instructions. I loved that he cared.

I feel yucky comparing him to Austin Scarlett, but that's who he reminded me of. BUT - This guy was really outgoing and smart and I love him. He's the only white person in the class. Maybe I could go on a minority scholarship? Hmm....

I loved the technical structure and details in all the garments. These people know how to mother'fucking build some clothes, damnit!

This girl (right) had it going on. I want to copy her blouse that she has on.

She was sponsored by a silk company! So many of these guys were ultra-professional in their thinking. It was so awesome.

You can see my photo set on Flickr here. It's about 50 photos.

I had a realization today - I don't hate fashion anymore. I'm at a good place. Vogue came in the mail and I didn't sneer and shove it away from my face. I pored over the fashion spreads and enjoyed it. I don't hate fashion anymore. I think I'm back in the spectator seat. It's not smothering me with a pillow in my sleep anymore.

I ride the bus across 5th Ave every day now. There's a clear hand bag in the window at Prada that I want to get to know, but I know that's a horrible idea. I need to stay on the bus. I took a bus up Madison Ave yesterday and it was really heart-wrenching. It's too much fun up Madison Avenue. So many wonderful, horribly expensive things.

Today was just really nice. The technical seamstress at work is Chinese and she offered half of her lunch to me and it was homemade dumplings and they were DELICIOUS! I wolfed them down and enjoyed Teen Vogue while I ate 'em up!

I took a pin that I got for 50 cents in Arkansas and turned it into a necklace:
Brooch/Pendant

And here's my outfit of the day - with jacket:
4/15 - Was a Fine Day!

No jacket but even worse photo quality:

Days like this - really awesome days - make me want to stay in New York City forever!
Oh wait, there's even more! I got a new ride!

It's not quite ready yet, but I'm so excited! It has the teeniest bit of pink trim. It's a Schwinn Cream. Can't wait! Summer of Velocouture is on!

Major Color

Thursday outfit - I owned 2 parts of this outfit before Katy Perry came out in them- The hearts belt and the hearts shoes. But I do like KP. Her skin is porcelain but she's really a normal looking person. With eerily flawless skin and massive boobs for a 5'7" girl.

OMG - My camera needs to fucking jump off a cliff. I know. It's like a camera phone! Mama's back in the workforce so new camera coming soon. Bicycle coming sooner! Really looking forward to bike commuting. I'm going to need some new spandex bike shorts. They will actually be good for the fittings at work.
4/8/10 Outfit

Freaking iPhone shows the colors more accurately.

When I need to try on stuff at work I usually put in a black tank top & leggings and take off my outfit but sometimes there's no time and I'm not modest after my life at PF so sometimes I just change. Everyone is very complimentary and nice about my body. I did go through and toss out tons of old panties and I will focus in the future on buying more lingerie that will be better for public viewing.

Friday Look:
Pink Cords - Friday Outfit

I thought reading Seventeen Magazine would be really fun and awesome but it was a let-down. I didn't know any of the "famous" girls inside. I only learned about a cheap new hoochie-clothes online store.

But I did like all the attention given to (anti-)Teen Pregnancy.

Matt was really into "16 & Pregnant" the other night and I loved him for it. The Corey & Leah story deserved the 90min. it got.

We went to see the new Tina Fey & Steve Carell movie "Date Night" last night. It was cute. Not amazing. It was funny in how it highlights being married = being boring. I think we are doing OK in the anti-boring department. There are spells where we spend too much time in Home Depot!

Liberated Feet

Matt said "You don't have any normal clothes anymore to wear to a normal job."

That's just not true. I think I can make it work with a trip to the mini-storage. I think I may have the suit one of the job agencies made me buy when we first got here. I've got some plain separates that I could work with. And if anywhere "normal" hires me, I can get the missing links at H&M.

Last Thursday I guess I dropped my phone at the party. I know the area where I lost it- Near the step & repeat. I was freaking out. I've never lost a phone in almost 14 years of cell-phone ownership.

I got a new phone, and I bought the same Kate Spade case I already own.
The next day the guy who had my phone wrote me on Facebook. We agreed to meet outside the Buckler presentation on W. 26th Street.

I was happy to wait ouside for about 40 minutes.

Liberated Feet

These cars were there at the entrance. I think Buckler is a mens line.
Many men were definitely losing their shit over these cars:
Pontiac

Ford GT

So I got my phone back! He said "Good luck to you." He must have read my recent emails & texts.
