7/2/13

Something happened today.

julie_mom_outfit
I was standing in the kitchen pouring a bottle of cherry coke on ice when I thought to myself: I have become my mom. "This is totally something she did a million times." As in, fixing a soda-pop-type drink to go run some errands in the car.

I glanced down at my outfit, and I was basically wearing my mom's uniform of the late 80's and early 90's and basically her whole life that I was a part of.

I am wearing her uniform. But I didn't freak out; I realized shit, mom had great style.

And continued my cherry coke pour.

Guest Post on BikeMinded

I have a guest post on BikeMinded today!
Feb 1st - Action shots
I tucked away some bike outfits so they would have fresh material for the post.

Check it out here. It's about bike style since it's fashion week... again.

I did this highly visible casual Friday look for the post.
Casual, visible Friday
RED coat - Forever 21, white bern helmet, clear glasses from Claire's, Citizens of Humanity jeans, F21 fake converse with gold toe.

My Kate Middleton Bicycle is so pretty... She needs to be healthy and strong.

Elected Official

A shade of self tan
Last night I went to the meeting where I became an officially elected member of the Democratic County Committee for New York County in the 65th Assembly District.
Dem County Committee Meeting
Dem County Committee Meeting
My campaign only required the collection of signatures to put me on a ballott and I was not opposed. I don't have very many duties and I really signed myself up for this because I am dedicated to working hard to elect Democrats, especially Barack Obama. I already have the 2012 Democratic National Convention dates on my Google calendar from which I operate all my appointments. (Other appointments examples "Purchase ballet tickets" and "Moonlight Ride")

This is what I wore when I became official. The meeting was great because the Parliamentary Procedure was tight and there was lots of cheering and clapping from the attendees. And socializing!
Monday!
I do feel a little bad for the flip-flops but... I wasn't the only one in sandals and at least mine were gold.

I'm wearing Democrat Blue tops this week. Just a coincidence.
A shade of self tan
I am self-tanned in preparation for a quickly approaching Miami vacation (husband is on business - I'm an enthusiastic tag-a-long.) My hair is a little lighter all-over too. Skin darker, hair lighter.

I have found some bike stuff for Miami and I think I'll be utilizing their bike share.
Sadly, I'm flying Friday night and missing Critical Mass rides for the Occupy Wall Street Protest in New York City and the Miami Crit Mass. Major shucks.

I do plan on taking supplies to the Occupy Wall Street citizens on Thursday when I'm off from work for Rosh Hashanah holiday. (If the Jews of my company can give me a holiday, I can take the occupiers of wall street some juice boxes and such.)

Swedish Side of Jules

I want to win this bicycle contest on Lovely Bicycle! This contest asks for Swedish Cinema Inspired photographs featuring Person + bicycle. I can do that! I watched some Ingmar Bergman films on Netflix for ideas on dress/hair/makeup/accessories/sadness.

I've been stuck at home very sick for the past two days. Sadly, no #BIKENYC has been going on. Kate has been hanging in the bike room. She came out briefly to go with me to the park near our our apartment to do this quick photoshoot this evening.

I knew I liked this filmstrip image.
Persona

So I took some images of myself and photoshopped this puppy together.

Here's the Prize:

Lovely Bicycle wants to give this to a woman (Like Me!) and this bike is huge, so it needs to go to a tall lady like Me! I've been fearing for Kate Middleton's safety this winter in NYC and this bicycle would be great for messier conditions, I'm sure.

Wish me Luck!

Eugenia Kim for Target Hats

I first learned about Eugenia Kim when I needed to find out what other Martha Stewart guests were wearing. I was given the dress requirements - No crazy prints, no white, no black please, no pale colors. (If you don't already know me - I wore this dress.)

Eugenia Kim was the only "young" person who was on in the 2 weeks leading up to my appearance, who I had on my DVR.
Her outfit didn't help me, because my outfit had to accomodate my necklace's style, but I was instantly a fan.

We rode the subway to 'da Bronx to get to Target! Fun Sunday! I tried to buy 4, but Matt made me compromise. I also put back a Zac Posen for Target belt. The more I looked at the belt, the more cheap-o elements I found in it. I had to have these 3 hats. Glad I fought for them!

5/2/Self - New Hats

This afternoon Matt said "I can't believe you aren't trying on your new hats and taking pictures of yourself."

It was too hot this afternoon. I waited until he went to bed. Today is the first day we turned on our air conditioner.

It's too bad I absolutely must wear a bicycle helmet at all times when riding. Safety first!
Safety even before cute new hats!
