Celeb Sighting: SJP

Last night we went to this show, and we had a celebrity sighting worth writing home about.

It's funny that I worked for the lady who dressed the SATC ladies the during time they were working on the SATC movies, but I never saw any of the four main characters up close - I saw some in the street filming but that's it, I think. I saw the clothes up close. Some of the clothes accessories may appear in my nightmares indefinitely.

Last night this changed. We saw her come into the theatre, smiling, looking for her friends.
She sat down right in front of me. She is beyond tiny. The Sex and the City fan in me said "Wow, I can leave NYC now."
I remember back in 2001 & 2002 in my college apartment, we were one of the few homes that had HBO. People were pretty much sworn to silence to have the privilege of coming over to watch on Sunday night when a new episode premiered. This was before DVR's and everything you saw on TV being online the next day.

Seeing her felt much more casual than it would have ten years ago.

I was wearing this:
Friday night date

And Matt looked like this:
Bad attitude Matt

And the show was amazzzzing!
She clapped enthusiastically throughout - sometimes with her hands held up high over her head.
Had I gotten near her, I would have simply thanked her for supporting Obama how she's doing. Love 4ever.

Booties for Bike Ladies

I know Forever21 is sweat-shop city... But damn, I'm killing shoes being a rough & tumble bike lady.

I ordered these and they turned out super-awesome- so I also ordered this taupe color.
Who cares if I beat the shit out of them this winter riding bikes?

They got tested-out on a late, 8mi bike ride on Saturday night.
We went to the Duane Park supper club because I'm hopelessly devoted to Murray Hill and who doesn't like fancy dinners and burlesque?

Matt rode in TOMS and switched to fancy shoes before we headed into the restaurant.
I love that he pulled such a girl-move. I carried his shoes in my trusty, though out of season, panniers.

Some sweet rides

Unicorn Bike
Unicorn trike-bike in Brooklyn. I'm jealous.

Sunday night we went to Brooklyn on the subway and the subway seemed grosser than ever. Matt and I were both repelled and bitched about it the whole way there. There was a slightly homeless smell on both train cars.
The destination was worth it- The Mr. Transman pageant hosted by my local showbiz crush, Murray Hill.
Transman Pageant
Sunday I didn't ride my bike at all, breaking a major streak. I guess a streak since Memorial Day when we went upstate in a rented little car.

Monday I was back at it- Commuting to work.
pnk pants - pink tires
First corduroy jeans of fall. My jacket is a little boys early 90's Jordache jean jacket.

Today, I was running late and it started to sprinkle on me, so I hauled ass and just took a quick panda when I was riding through the park.

On my way home I saw this sweet John Lennon ride going up 6th Avenue.
John Lennon Pedi Cab

Then I ran into this guy and his favorite thing in the whole world is having me put pictures of him on the internet. Oh, Matt. Our commutes aren't that different, but it's rare that we meet on bikes at the same time and you bet I rang my new Grande Ding Dong bell at him.
I found this guy on my way home

I like how his jacket and helmet match.

Bike Times with Matt

9-15 Bike visibility red tshirt
Morning stop through Central Park - High visibility in my red tee and pink helmet.
American Apparel tee - J.Crew skirt - Forever 21 Bow flats - Pro Tec Helmet

I've been feeling kind-of down about the Pro-Tec helmet. I really miss a brim/visor/bill when I'm wearing it. It just feels a little nerdy and what's up with all this overage?

overage is so looong
Who's head is this long to need this much slack? But I do appreciate the color of the strap - it won't show dirt.

THE LAST THREE NIGHTS ME AND MATT HAVE BEEN OUT RIDING BIKES TOGETHER.
This is news, only because we typically just straight-up commute on our own, or I go do something but he has to go home and study.

This is me picking him up from work. He terrorizes me riding around in shorts with dark socks and Danskos. See how he lets me photograph him when he's dressed crazy?
Matt killin' me

Tuesday I locked myself out of the apartment so I needed him for his house keys.

Wednesday we went to see Mortified at the 92Y Tribeca for a friend's birthday, and took the west side greenway home.
The show was pretty good Oh! So a bunch of Matt's co-workers left (from work) before him or around the same time and we were the first ones there - BIKES are EFFICIENT!

Here's Matt Wednesday night way downtown approaching the greenway.
At least he's got on long pants to cover-up the dark socks.

Thursday, we went to get our asses-beat up and beat-down too at a Shiatsu massage parlor.
They seriously made both of us want to cry, but it was overall fantastic. After we were dressed and on our way out, everyone lined-up to say "Goodbye" and my masseuse said "OH! You came on bike!?" -Because they spotted our helmets.

Yeah, girl! And we rode our bikes together into the night and giggled about how much you hurt us.

Sunday evening bike date
Sunday I had a little bike date planned for me and Matt/husband.
I had 4 places I wanted/needed to go:
1. Fishs Eddy for Todd Oldham + Charley Harper
2. The Nicola Formicetti Pop-Up shop
3. Eat dinner somewhere - anywhere?!
4. 9/11 10th anniversary Tribute Cabaret Show

The first restaurant I picked out was closed or out of business - hard to tell the diff.
Matt swore he knew of someplace close - he's looking on his phone...

The 2nd choice place that I cam up with was ClOSED!
We went into a random place not worth discussing not good or terrible

We were both losing our minds at Fishs Eddy - It's amazing!
Matt is getting to this extra-secure place where he can say things like "We have to bring my Mom here"

We finally got down to Nicola's pop-up shop and it was freaking closed for the day!

We rode over to Highline Ballroom for the Cabaret show. I love going to these mix-group entertainment shows
because I always - ALWAYS- learn about a new person or group that I should follow and seek-out future shows.
This night was a hit in my mind. It was a beautiful and fun tribute.

We rode home using the West Side Greenway, of course.

Bed time! It's hard on us old folks going out on a school nite.

How We Do Summer Streets

Whee! Summer Streets
Two Summer Streets Saturdays down - only one to go - and it appears that we just ride downtown, meet-up with my #BikeNYC friends, hang out, take pics then ride off to get something delicious to eat, go home.

Dmitry took the best couple-photo of us. Ooh la la!
Summer Streets Bike Portraits
See all of his Summer Streets portraits on Flickr.

We bailed out of the protection of Summer Streets to use the broke-down bike lane on Grand Street going to Doughut Plant.

I got a tip from Sharon's NYC Taught Me blog. She's mostly dealing with children- but I think like a 7 year old girl, so her advice helps me.

We passed 4 different flavors back and forth to each other like maniacs and shared a Thai iced tea.
Doughnut Plant is Official
GET READY FOR SOME CRUNKNESS BECAUSE AFTER DOUGHNUTS WE GOT SNO-BALLS!

I've had Imperial Woodpecker Sno-Balls four times this week. I met the sweet little owner and we swapped southern-accent-love for one another. I did not tell her I've had four sno-balls this week.
Sno-ball with ice cream inside
Matt went nuts and got ice cream inside his shave-ice/sno-ball! He had root beer & ice cream flavors with real ice cream tucked inside. Dopeness

We felt sick as hell from all the sugar, but we had to get our ill-selves home for an emergency nap and Summer Streets turn back into danger alleys at 1pm so we used the West Side Greenway of Love to get home.
Couples Panda
Next weekend is going to go down a lot like this too. Yaaay SummerTime!

I suffered so many snowy, wintry bike rides...

Like this 24ยบ commute and this snowy New Year's Eve spin around the city.
