Goodbye, new & old friends

I got this thing from an apartment in Durham in 2002. Some Duke (university) girls moved out of an apartment and left some stuff and this is the last thing from the haul I got from that apartment.  I've loved this thing and held onto it through many apartments of my/our own. It just doesn't servie a good enough purpose to keep it anymore, and tonight I gave it away to a stranger who volunteered to come and get it through Craigslist. It needs a makeover. Bad.

I also just gave away the "cat box" through Craigslist. It got picked up this morning by a lady who said it's going to carry a dog who I believe is a Chinese something. Maybe one of those crazy little bald dogs!
Friday's awesome garbage find.

Sunday I got a wild hair, maybe because the organizer is coming soon, and I moved this big cabinet-thing into the bedroom:

So now the area at the end of the couch near the window-exit for the terrace is much roomier. We had take-out sushi for dinner and I put out the folding table & chairs so we could eat dinner like normal people, and not on our couch.
Portable dining room is out tonight
I'm over these yellow folding chairs. They are also hard to hide being this dumb color. They too will be bartered, sold or handed off through Craigslist soon.

Free Haircut!

My hair was feeling extra thick and conservative and since I'm spending so much time on Craigslist (and other job sites of course) looking for jobs, I like to look into other adventures too. I wrote someone who needed short-hair hair-cut models. The salon turned out to be really swanky and it turned out to be in the neighborhood.

The owner is one of those "Celebrity Stylists" and he was actually there. I read his press book in the waiting area and was surprised that someone who works there is on the Michelle Obama hair team and the owner himself does Renee Z. When I met my lady she had to show me to the owner so that he could see the "Before." After my personal dealing with "celebrity stylists" he was typical. No one (fancy, who I've met and is famous and owns their business) is as friendly as Eva S.

So the haircut was nice. Nice space, tons of cute people working there. If I need free haircuts long-term, I know where to go. I overheard that "Apprentice highlights" are $40. Woo hoo! If you're not familiar with the "Apprentice" system, people who are licensed in NYC have to "Apprentice" for 2 whole years before they graduate to working on the floor by themselves and generating their own clientele. I guess it's more serious in upscale salons. I appreciate the charity!

This is just an outfit pic. The flannel shirt is not your typical lesbian flannel- It is Vintage Diane Von Furstenberg that I purchased in Malvern, Arkansas. Hello.

I did a little photo shoot and put some things on eBay yesterday.
I was professional and invested $25 in a roll of seamless paper to shoot my items against a nice background:

Julie's Hair History

I created a "set" on Flickr of all my different hair looks throughout history. The earliest photo is 9th grade. I wish I could find my sorority composite from 1998 where I have a 1" pixie cut!

This pic is from May 2008 - Click here for the HAIR HISTORY in photos.

My weekend was really chill. I actually put on my housewife-hat and cooked! I cooked food!
I've also applied for several extra & focus group jobs on Craigslist to while away the days. Maybe I'll have some good adventures to report.
